Project Description:
The town of Andes is location in Delaware County in the state of New York. Cedarwood Engineering Services, PPLC was retained to renovate the Andes public library. This building was originally built in the 1840’s with an addition constructed in 1973. This building had accessibility issues such as the 1973 floor level was lower than the 1840’s floor level, restrooms size did not meet ADA requirements, and there was no access from the parking lot nor the public sidewalk to enter this building. This building also had shown signs of aging such as the roof, electrical/data, mechanical and general finish materials. The bulk of the interior renovations was basically gut the entire first floor of the 1973 addition, construct a new floor system with an elevation to match the 1840’s floor elevation, install a new radiant floor heating system, install new electrical, lighting and data, new flooring, new ceiling and wall materials/finishes. Within the 1840’s portion of the building a new ADA compliant restroom was constructed, new flooring and painting. The exterior renovations included a new roof, new concrete ADA compliant ramp, new concrete porch and a new exterior cellar door with concrete walls.
